Michelle Katherine North
April 22, 1964 – March 25, 2021
To know Michelle was to love her—and most people did almost instantly. She had a way of bringing sunshine wherever she went, whether through her laughter, her kindness, or that unforgettable smile that made everyone feel at home.
Michelle passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply, after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. True to who she was, she faced every moment with strength, grace, and a heart full of love.
Michelle was the oldest of five—a role she carried with warmth, leadership, and just the right amount of big-sister spirit. She built a life full of adventure, friendships, and stories that will be told for years to come. She married her true love, Scott, in Orange County, California, beginning a 33-year journey filled with
devotion, laughter, and partnership. Together, they raised three incredible children—Lauren, Keenan, and Hattie—in Bellingham, Washington, creating a home that was equal parts love, encouragement, and unwavering support.
Michelle was the kind of mom who showed up for everything, every game, every milestone, every dream. She poured herself into her family, championing each passion and celebrating every success as if it were her own.
Later in life, Michelle and Scott followed the sunshine to Pismo Beach, California, where they embraced the coastal life she adored—long walks on the beach, collecting seashells, and soaking in breathtaking sunsets. If there were an ocean nearby, you could count on Michelle to find it. She had a deep love for travel and the simple joys of life, but nothing ever came before her family.
Her love was steady, selfless, and unforgettable. Michelle leaves behind a beautiful legacy in those who loved her, and a wide circle of family and friends who will carry her spirit forward. Though she is deeply missed, her presence is still felt—in perfect sand dollars, the scent of blooming lilies, and the magic of a fiery sunset over the ocean.
Michelle North’s Memorial Victory Trip®
Michelle had a deep love for surfing and followed the World Surf League closely, attending events in Hawaii, San Clemente, and Australia. In honor of that passion, her family has chosen the Gold Coast, Australia, as a special place of remembrance—one that may evolve over time to include other surf destinations she would have loved. For now, it stands as a reflection of her adventurous spirit and love for the ocean.
